Welcome to the wild heart of East Africa. I am Patrick Hozza, a Dar es Salaam-based wildlife photographer with a lifelong passion for nature, travel, and storytelling.

Do you offer private tours?
Yes, private guiding is my specialty. Unlike crowded group tours, a private safari allows us to dictate our own schedule, spend hours at a single sighting without pressure, and tailor the entire itinerary to your specific photographic interests.
How do I book?
Booking is simple. Send me an email or use the contact form on this website with your preferred dates and interests. I will work with you to draft a custom itinerary and provide a quote before finalizing the reservation.
How long are safaris?
There is no fixed duration. A typical photography safari lasts between 7 to 10 days to allow enough time in key locations, but I can arrange everything from quick 3-day getaways to immersive 3-week expeditions across multiple parks.
Can children join?
Absolutely. A family safari is a wonderful educational experience. I can tailor the pace of the game drives to be engaging for younger travelers while ensuring safety remains the top priority at all times.
Do I need pro gear?
Not at all. While a zoom lens helps, the most important tool is your eye. I guide photographers of all levels—from professionals with heavy prime lenses to enthusiasts shooting on high-end smartphones. I will help you get the best out of whatever camera you have.
Can I rent gear?
I recommend bringing your own familiar equipment. However, if you need a specific lens or camera body, let me know in advance. I can assist in arranging rentals through trusted partners in Arusha or Dar es Salaam before we depart.
Do you do birding?
Yes, Tanzania is a world-class destination for ornithology with over 1,000 bird species. Whether you are looking for the endemic Fischer’s Lovebird or the massive Martial Eagle, I can design an itinerary specifically focused on avian photography.
What vehicles do you use?
We use extended 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers specifically modified for photography. They feature large pop-up roofs for 360-degree views, bean bags for camera stability, charging points for your batteries, and a fridge for cold drinks.
What languages do you speak?
I am fluent in both English and Swahili. This allows me to communicate clearly with international guests while also interacting seamlessly with local rangers, camp staff, and communities we meet along the way.
What about vaccinations?
Travelers generally need to show proof of Yellow Fever vaccination if arriving from a country with risk of transmission. Malaria prophylaxis is also highly recommended. Please consult your doctor or a travel clinic for the most current medical advice.
