[ About Patrick Hozza ]

More Than a Photographer. A Voice for the Wild.

The Man Behind the Lens I was born and raised in Tanzania, a land where the rhythm of life is dictated by the rains and the roar of the lion. For over a decade, I have dedicated my life to documenting the untamed beauty of East Africa.

My journey didn’t start with a camera, but with a deep curiosity for the natural world. Today, based in Dar es Salaam, I operate as a professional wildlife photographer and private safari guide. My work is not just about capturing a “pretty picture”; it is about freezing a fleeting moment of natural history—a poetic snapshot that tells a story of survival, beauty, and instinct.

My Philosophy: The Poetic Snapshot You will often see the phrase “A Poetic Snapshot” associated with my work. To me, wildlife photography is visual poetry. It requires patience, respect, and an intimate understanding of animal behavior.

I believe that the best photographs are earned, not taken. Whether we are waiting for a leopard to descend from a baobab tree in Ruaha or tracking the Great Migration in the Serengeti, I prioritize ethical photography. We never harass wildlife for a reaction; we wait for the wild to reveal itself to us.

Professional Affiliations & Conservation My commitment to Tanzania goes beyond tourism. I am a proud Co-Founder of TaWiMA (Tanzania Wildlife Media Association), an organization dedicated to empowering local storytellers and promoting conservation through media.

I also partner closely with Nungunungu – Authentic Expeditions, ensuring that every safari I lead is logistically flawless, safe, and deeply rooted in authentic Tanzanian hospitality.

Proudly Nature First

Championing Tanzania's Wilderness Through Media: Our Partnership with TaWiMA

As a proud member of the Tanzania Wildlife Media Association (TaWiMA), I am deeply connected to its mission of promoting, supporting, and marketing the wild places of Tanzania through the powerful lens of film and photography. TaWiMA serves as a crucial platform and support network, empowering citizens to take ownership of the remarkable natural resources that establish Tanzania as a premier worldwide tourist destination.

The association is driven by a vision to become the leading model for showcasing Tanzanian Wilderness and promoting its protection. This vision is realized through several key objectives:

  • Educating and building the media skills of young Tanzanians, with a focus on wildlife and natural places.

  • Promoting and marketing Tanzania’s natural habitats, wildlife, and related environmental research.

  • Promoting and supporting various conservation initiatives dedicated to the maintenance of wildlife and the environment.

Proud Member of Nature Tanzania

We are a proud member of Nature Tanzania, a local conservation NGO that is rooted in community empowerment for nature conservation.
